Tarot and other spiritual subjects originally piqued my curiosity while I was in college studying design in the early 2000s. My roommate was from France, and her mother had taught her to read the cards.
She used the Rider-Waite-Smith deck and I was captivated by the bright archetypal imagery. Although I have always been interested in symbolism in my work as an artist and designer, I did not become involved with the Tarot myself until a few years later.
It all began with a dream that astonished me with its clarity and intensity. I dreamt that I was walking through a massive gallery that was almost deserted. Then a faceless woman approached me. She told me that a parcel was waiting for me in the lobby of my apartment building.
The next morning, as I was leaving for work, I checked my mail. There was nothing there, but a few days later I received a package from my old roommate with a Tarot deck and a copy of Arthur Edward Waite’s The Pictorial Key to the Tarot. Included was a note that said she thought I would be interested in finally learning to read the cards.
She was right. The Tarot spoke to me with incredible clarity as I began to work with it. Over the next few months, I learned how to do basic readings. I began to read for other people and do personal readings to clarify my own spiritual questions.
The answers I received from the cards raised new questions for me, so I looked for the best books I could find on Tarot, Astrology, Numerology, and other related subjects.
This led me on a journey of self-discovery. Soon enough, I had large notebooks filled with charts, lists, and notes. I was on my path to becoming a Tarot scholar, and the Tarot itself served as my main teacher.
Conscious Unfolding is my first attempt to teach what I have learned. This site will cover the Tarot in general and how it can guide you on your spiritual path.
